If you visit Melbourne Zoo’s butterfly house, you may have wondered how to persuade one or more of the ephemeral inhabitants to settle upon one of the members of your party. There is a common fondness for a photograph of a human acting as a resting place for one of the most fragile animals. I have had luck wearing a bright yellow shirt, and the young person wearing the floral fleece in this shot reported previous success - amusing that the butterfly settled on butter yellow.
The butterfly in this shot is an Orchard Butterfly. It is not popular with orchardists, because its caterpillars feed on orchard trees.
